Space Sovereignty

H.E. Dr. Tidiane Ouattara is leading the implementation of the African Space Policy and Strategy, driving Africa's collective ambition to harness space science and technology for sustainable development. Over the last decade, he has mobilised over US$155 million for African space and Earth observation programmes, led the implementation of GMES & Africa across 45 African countries, and played a central role in establishing the African Space Agency (AfSA).

Today, as President of the African Space Council, he provides strategic leadership for Africa's continental space agenda, strengthening international partnerships and advancing the use of space technologies to support climate resilience, agriculture, disaster risk management, environmental sustainability, and socioeconomic development across the continent.
